Joe Seemiller

Owner/Therapist, SWLC, MSW

Welcome to Bison Counseling. My path to becoming a therapist was not a traditional one. My early professional life was rooted in military service, and from there I transitioned into the corporate sector. While it was a good career, I eventually realized I was not doing the work I was meant to do. I chose to walk away from that path and step into clinical practice for one simple reason. I care deeply about helping people.

My approach to therapy was not built solely in a classroom. I know what it means to face profound adversity because I have navigated heavy weather myself. I have experienced the crushing weight of significant loss, the chaos of instability, and the deep exhaustion that comes from navigating extreme trauma. I understand what it feels like to battle hopelessness and feel completely lost. My own journey through recovery is exactly what inspired me to shift my life completely and become a therapist.

Because of those lived experiences, I connect with people on a fundamentally human level. When you sit across from me, you are not a diagnosis or a clinical puzzle. I understand that when people are guarded or angry, it is often just a shield for deep, underlying pain. I will meet you exactly where you are. If you are grieving, I will hold that heavy space with you, and I will stay by your side until you are ready to stand firm again.

Therapy with me is a genuine, supportive conversation with someone who is fully in your corner. I am proud to serve the Flathead Valley community right here in Kalispell, offering a warm, deeply empathetic, and completely judgment free space. Whether you are a fellow veteran or an individual facing an impossibly difficult season, my goal is to truly see you, hold space for your pain, and walk alongside you until we reach clear skies.
